Rolls-Royce Reveals its Vision of the Future: Autonomous and Electric Vehicles with No Steering Wheel or Exposed Wheels by 2035

Rolls-Royce, the renowned luxury car brand, has presented its ambitious plans for the future of mobility. According to the British firm’s latest statements, by 2035, its vehicles will be fully autonomous and electric, with a radically different aesthetic: no steering wheel and no exposed wheels.

This concept was anticipated during the presentation of its 103EX prototype in 2016, an autonomous, electric vehicle that previewed the brand’s futuristic vision. The 103EX, with an imposing size of almost 6 meters long and 1.6 meters high, has a design that looks more like a luxury yacht than a conventional automobile. Its aerodynamically optimized body integrates 28-inch diameter wheels, handcrafted with aluminum spokes, and a front end that stands out for its majestic statuette, characteristic of the brand.

One of the most innovative aspects of the 103EX is its luggage compartment system. At the push of a button, a tray pulls out the luggage, eliminating the need for passenger effort. In addition, the vehicle offers all-weather comfort with heated umbrellas integrated into the doors.

The artificial intelligence “Eleanor” is in charge of managing the driving and coordinating every detail of the trip. From routing information to appointment reminders, Eleanor does all the work. When the doors are opened, the roof slides back to allow occupants to enter standing up, similar to entering a gala salon. The interior features a hand-braided silk carpet and an ivory-colored sofa that replaces traditional seating, while a giant OLED screen replaces the conventional dashboard.

This Rolls-Royce prototype not only redefines the driving experience, but also points the way to the future of mobility, integrating luxury, technology and sustainability. Although still a concept, the 103EX reflects the brand’s intentions to transform the transportation industry in the coming decades.
