NASA warns of possible historic flooding in the United States as of April 9, 2025

NASA has issued a warning of an unprecedented flood event that would begin to affect several regions of the United States beginning Wednesday, April 9, 2025. According to current climate models, an extremely heavy rainfall system is expected to dump the equivalent of four months of rainfall in just five days, drastically raising river levels and causing flash floods with high risk to the population.

The most threatened states are Arkansas and Kentucky, where emergency protocols have already been activated. Authorities are urging citizens to stay informed, prepare for possible evacuations and not to underestimate the magnitude of this weather phenomenon.

This episode is closely related to El Niño, a weather pattern that alters the temperature of the Pacific Ocean and can trigger extreme events such as torrential rains, droughts and floods in different parts of the world.

NASA and other meteorological agencies will continue to monitor the evolution of this system with advanced satellite observation and forecasting tools. Prevention and information are key to minimize the risks during the next few days.
